Haeckel, a name, a man, a biologist, and a thinker in ways not of ethics. With an employment past in county government, I've come to question our Orange County, California's govrernment employees' behavior. Coroner and administrator employees come to the top of the government employee crude list, as I find. So I'm beginning to look at their crimes against victims of violent crimes and violent suicides in an ethical context. Virtue generally on a particular action, person give offense in another area of their life. A habit of give and take to no extreme gives all a better way to live. Justice in what is lawful and what is equitable, equal, fair. We expect in any community that laws should be jus t. In a broad sense of the word, justice as fair and equal. There's a virtue of being law-abiding; does this mean oc gov employees come up short on virtue? Yes, of coursre. Those employees behaving in a conflict of interest within their employement status have no or little vir ture. They may be wealthy, they may be greedy, virtuous they are not. Abuses of power
We must always ask, "What is the goal of human life, its purpose?". Happiness?A crime scene cleanup ethics seeks common sense and excellence, besides happiness for crime scene cleanup practitioners. That something else might also be power, popularity, to buy a house. Why buy a house? To have a nice place to live? Why have a nice place to live? And so forth. What is it that one must have for happiness? Could it be the happiness of others? What one can really envision as happiness for humanity at large? Wealth, health, reputation, control over power, in honesty, we do it for the sake of happiness. This answer makes common sense. There's no other thing for which we desire in our purpose for life, at least not as highly desired. My reasons for this article arose with our Orange County Coroner and Administrator's corruption. With their responsibilities and duties, I wondered how they could ever hope to be happy. How does one become happy when their interests revolve around cheating people victimized by homicides, suicide, and unattended deaths. So, what is happyness? Is happiness an end? Is there a means to happiness. Is it something desired for its own sake and many other things that may enter into happiness. What about the Golden Mean? The mean between extremes. Virture in the face of danger; character in face of challange; a mean point of where human excellence exists. The Golden Mean seeks virtue in excellence between extremes. Here one finds hope for happiness, not by seeking happiness, but by living in accord with the Golden Mean. Virtures are a matter of how we develop the potenials and eventualities within us, and then apply these in neither exaggerated nor too modest acts. Strenth of character and a disposition fashioned by action after actions; development of a habit to approaching life, all within a meidum applica tion develops virtue. "Nothing to excess," Aristotle would say. I begin with Aristotle's Ethics and intemix crime scene cleanup as a cleaning trade and corrupted industry. It's about common sense. Duty and right comes along with Kant. The Gold n Rule: Do onto others as you would have them do unto you. The categorical imperative: The way in which we make our choices, responsibly; would we like to be treated the way we treat others.? A strong sense of certain ideas that some things have importance, like human rights.
3. Enriching, an anthropological look at people gives us a natural law tradition. The Greeks give us this form of ethics. What are the virtures. What course of action is just. What is courage and can we teach it. What about temperance.? Plato would later elaborate characteristics of people in his Dialogues. Aristotle looked to people form other city states, including Egyptions. Aristotle tries to see our human nature with an anthropological and biological approach. What is it about this group or specific person. He finds it helpful to write in treatist by laying out in the very beginning. What is the general game plan of human life. What brings us happiness; Everyoe asks for what they think what makes them happy, but the disagree on what it is that brings them happiness.. Happiness is self-sufficient, satisfying. Central Notion: Virtue: a matter of excellence at a particular function. Whatever. Looking for common patterns that would apply to eveyone in evy circumstance, try to describe what makes for human maters of emotion, how we feel; temperance nd courage. How to deal with danger and fear. Danger in passions.
Mututal dealings of one another. Virtue of habitually ispopsing ourselves tho think and treat others with fairness and equality. How do people acquire virtue; how do some fail to gather virture. Somee ways to strengthen will in those matters one finds themselves pulled and tugged in certain directions. Friendship consists in the diffeerent kind of friends we have; not all friends have same relationships, exists at different levels of expectations; how to trust and so forth. Ethics is a study based on a thieory based on clear principles; right v. wrong, goood v. bad. Hard cases make bad war. Beginning with simpler cases and progressing to tougher cases, the clearest principles arise. We find individuals with those characteristics giving some form of excellence. Abuse of power for own gain; they bring some part of their person into disrepute. soeme admire family; integrity and onviction, by repeatedly making tough decisioins. 1097a20 Happiness: Lots of artifacts have specific functions. A hammer's not good for placing staples, but nails. Design of something exists within an object. Techniques very in medicine and each has its end. Sills of navagation have a certain function and when done Animals - unlike tools and proesions, animals have certain activities that are built into their very nature; design provides Whatever our kind of human being, we too have a specifc part or activities or structure typical of us. These distintive features allow us to reach excellence, a human goal. We have to practice and develop excellence if we care to reach it. Whether or not we make excellence ours, seeking it portrays our ethics. Practice. We have to use our particular abilities and practice to reach excellence. Rationality is that distinctive feature, a type of knowing, which add a functin or characteristic our humanness. For some, not feeling, not desiring, but rationality is our proper function. So start with helathy nd include others on borderline. What humn activity called rationality, our knowing and our long life, material prosperity, friends, honor, respect, Happiness: rationality developed well. Developed to application for skill it was developed. Happiness is found across the human spectrum in different ways when rationality developes in a way that really brings excellence in actions and thinking. Politics: art of the possible.
